Hier sollen in zwangloser Folge technikgeschichtliche Studien stehen, deren gemeinsames Kennzeichen ist, dass sie ihren Gegenstand ganz überwiegend aus der Sichtweise des Ingenieurs angehen, der ansonsten in der Technikgeschichte manchmal etwas wenig zur Sprache kommt. Man könnte formulieren : Hier sollen technische Fragen von gestern mit technischen Erkenntnissen von heute behandelt werden.
Vorerst werden vor allem die Fachgebiete „Dampflokomotiven“ und „Schiffbau“ vertreten sein, andere können durchaus hinzukommen. Wer etwas Passendes anzubieten hat, möge sich mit dem
Herausgeber in Verbindung setzen.
Bei relativ alten Quellen sind die Inhaber der Urheberrechte nicht immer zu ermitteln. Der Herausgeber ist in diesen Fällen für Hinweise dankbar.
Die Verantwortung für den Inhalt liegt alleine bei dem betreffenden Autor. Dieser ist ebenfalls Inhaber aller
Urheberrechte.
Jan Hartmann, Autor der meisten Arbeiten und Herausgeber der Serie, ist Professor für Schiffbau im
Ruhestand. Darüber hinaus prägt ihn ein großes Interesse für Dampflokomotiven.

This web site is to make available to a wider audience papers regarding engineering in
history. The common denominator is that these papers look at a given topic above all from an engineer's point of view which is rarely found in descriptions and discussions of our
past. In a way, these papers aim to look at past technical challenges and issues with the benefit of a modern-day engineer's insights and perspective.
Thus far, the papers posted here deal with steam locomotives and naval architecture. Yet this web site is open to
other topics as well. Anybody considering offering a paper that might fit the spirit of this site for being posted here, would be welcome to contact
